For almost a year the state of Uttar Pradesh had the post of RERA chief vacant hampering the functionality and regulation of the newly implemented Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016. The Housing department of the state recently woke up from the slumber and has appointed the recently retired Chief Secretary of the state Mr. Rajive Kumar as the new chairperson for the RERA Authority. Balwinder Kumar, another retired IAS officer, and Bhanu Pratap Singh retired IPS have been appointed as its members along with Kalpana Mishra in the same capacity. Now, that the appointments have been approved by the state authorities the coming time will tell how effective they will prove for the regulation and implementation of RERA.
