GHAZIABAD: The principal secretary of housing and urban planning and the interim chairman of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) went to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) headquarters to inspect ongoing projects.
During his visit to the city he said that around 25,000 flats would be handed over by the culmination of this financial year in Ghaziabad. He restated that the government is dedicated to ensuring delivery of flats as per schedule.
GDA officers in a conference held, said that at about 25,000 flats per units that have been postponed so far will be dispensed by the end of this financial year and around 5,000 of these units have already been allotted.
Buyers of home have also insisted on transparency in the delivery process and schedule. To this, Ritu Maheshwari, vice-chairperson of GDA, said that they will make the required details available on the website.
The representation of buyers confronting a delay in the allocation of flats in Bhramputra Enclave in Siddharth Vihar, under UP Avas Vikas scheme, met Singhal at the GDA office and Neeraj Gupta, an allottee of the scheme, complained that they have already made payments for the flats and the flats were to be delivered by the end of 2015 but, they have not been delivered till date. They are paying EMIs of bank loans and are also spending on rental for housing.
Homebuyers quoted another scheme of the Avas Vikas that was postponed, under which the organization had reduced the circle rates and returned a fixed interest for the delay.
Singhal said that the rates for the Siddharth Vihar scheme would be finalized as per norms. The possession to buyers of the scheme will be stimulated. The matter of delayed possession is distressing thousands of homebuyers in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar. The government of UP formed a three-minister board to decide on the timeline of delivery of flats. The ministers have also said that they will not falter in lodging FIRs against developers who do not abide by the schedule.
Singhal added that authorities in UP, embracing those in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad, have been provided with a list of 250 housing projects, particulars of which are yet to be uploaded on UP-RERA website. UP-RERA has the greatest amount of complaints among all the authorities in the country. Complaints are lodged online and the court system is also online. They are also making efforts to accelerate resolution of issues. He said that the suggestions of the Comptroller & Audit General, in reference to GDA audit, have optimistic recommendations and these will be incorporated soon. However, he refused to elaborate on the recommendations.
