Builders in Punjab are marketing their projects without getting them registered under the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) or mentioning the RERA registration number through various advertisement mediums such as hoardings, social media, SMS, news advertisement etc.
As per section 3 (1) of the RERA Act, no promoter can sell or advertise their projects without getting them registered under RERA Authority. However, developers in Punjab are shutting their eyes to the provisions of RERA and attracting the buyers by violating the rules.
Punjab notified the RERA rules on 8th June 2017 and started the RERA Registration of both real estate projects and agents. Recently, the state government also launched the official website of RERA Punjab which is currently under maintenance.
