In a recent development, the Delhi Bar Association has ordered the big four consulting firms i.e. KPMG, Deloitte, PwC and EY to refrain from indulging in legal practice with immediate effect. Further, they have also asked them to summit the list of lawyers currently working in all capacities across all their offices.
The directions were given out in lieu of the complaint filed by Lalit Bhasin, President of the Society of Indian Law Firms, a representative body of over 100 law firms in the country. The complaint was filed by him long back in 2015 wherein he had alleged that the firms are indulging in full-fledged law practice without registering them with the Bar. The matter is due to come up next on 12th May, 2019 for further hearing.
