The MahaRERA has imposed penalties ranging from 2 lakhs to 12 lakhs on six developers for not following the obligations mentioned under S.3 and S.11 (2) of the MahaRERA Act under which it was mandatory for these developers to prominently display the registration number once they are registered with RERA while publishing their Advertisements.
They are also required to mention the RERA website where the project of such developers are posted so that the potential buyers stay updated about the developers track record, pending litigations (if any), timeline of the said project work and other project details as these details are required to be known by the buyers while booking a unit.
The penalty was imposed after the Chairman of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat filed a complaint against the said developers. Further it was also held that if they repeat the offence, the Authority will impose penalties up to 5% of total project cost. These developers are Goodtimes, Lashkaria Housing Sandeep Langde, Rikki Ronie, Ashar Realtors, Puraniks and Kabra and Associates. Moreover, Kabra and Associates were fined an additional penalty worth Rs. 10 lakh for false advertisement which claimed that the registration of their Juhu Chandan Project is ongoing when in reality it was not.
